Mulu Headhunters' Trail Tour
Are you ready for the challenge? Experience how hundreds of years ago, the locals trekked and hiked for days to reach their final destination.
The Headhunters Trail follows the route taken by Kayan headhunting parties who paddled up the Melinau River to Melinau Gorge when head-hunting was at its height, a hundred years ago. They then dragged their longboats through the forest for 3 km until they reached the banks of the Terikan River, where they launched headhunting raids against the people of the Limbang area.
ITINERARY
DAY 1
Arrive Mulu – Visit to Deer and Lang’s Cave – wait for Bats Exodus – Transfer to accommodation & check in.

DAY 2
Breakfast – go by boat to visit Batu Bungan Penan Settlement – proceed to Wind & Clearwater Caves – Lunch – continue by boat to Long Litut – trek to Camp 5 – Overnight at Camp 5.

Option 1: Without Pinnacles
DAY 3
Breakfast – Walk through lowland forest, to Terikan River, then boat down the Terikan River and Mendalam Rivers to Mendalam Longhouse.

DAY 4
Breakfast – Overland transfer to Limbang – Tour End.

Option 2: With Pinnacles
DAY 3
Early morning ascend Mt Api (3hrs) to the Pinnacles – Packed lunch at view point. – Descend (4hrs) – Overnight at Camp 5.

DAY 4
Trek through headhunters’ trail to Kuala Terikan – Packed lunch at rapid pebbles – Go by boat down Medalam River to Iban longhouse for short visit – Go by van to Limbang. Tour End.
